The Weilerstein Duo

Since 1976, the Weilerstein Duo has delighted audiences across the country with their electrifying interpretations of Romantic and 20th Century music. Their appearances have included critically acclaimed recitals at Alice Tully Hall and the 92nd Street Y in New York City and at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C.

The Duo has participated in many of America’s major music festivals, including Chamber Music West, Round Top, Sarasota, La Jolla, and Norfolk. In addition, they have regularly spent their summers teaching, coaching, and performing at the Aspen and Marlboro Music Festivals.

The Weilersteins have recorded the complete works of Ernest Bloch for violin and piano as well as sonatas by Janacek, Enesco, and Dohnányi.

Donald Weilerstein is known to many as a founding member and first violinist of the renowned Cleveland Quartet, with which he toured the world. His numerous recordings with the quartet won seven Grammy nominations and Best of the Year awards from Time and Stereo Review. Mr. Weilerstein was the winner of the Munich International and Young Artists Competition. Vivian Hornick Weilerstein is a frequent collaborator with many of today’s most eminent artists and ensembles.

Dedicated teachers as well as performers, the Weilersteins are currently on the faculty of The Cleveland Institute of Music and are in demand for masterclasses throughout the country. They were formerly faculty members of the Eastman School of Music.
