Mr. Per Tengstrand is a native of Sweden, and has studied in Geneva, Paris, and Malmö. His teachers have included Dominique Weber, Dominique Merlet, Romuald Sztern, and Hans Pålsson. He has performed in Scandinavia, Europe, Asia, and America, and has won prizes at several international piano competitions, including the ’96 CIEM/Geneva, the ’95 Long-Thibaud, and the ’95 Queen Elisabeth. Recent engagements include a concerto performance with the Lille National Orchestra (Leon Fleisher conducting), and an appearance as soloist with the Gothenberg Symphony Orchestra (Neeme Jârvi conducting). After his New York debut in November, Mr. Tengstrand embarked on a South American tour in December of 1997 and a tour of Japan in February of 1998.
